A 28-year-old male collapsed and subsequently died after running 18 kilometres of the Dublin Race Series event this afternoon, despite getting immediate medical attention at the scene.

The man who is yet to be identified is understood to be from Dublin.

He was aided by fellow paricipants and was also attended to by the St. John’s Ambulance medical crew on site.

The organisers have since expressed their sincere condolences to the man's family.
