A Dublin father convicted of sexually exploiting his daughter (4) has been remanded in custody until next week when his sentence will be finalised.
The accused man (28), who cannot be named to protect his daughter, was also convicted by a jury of encouraging, knowingly causing or facilitating the production of child pornography between 2009 and 2010.
During his trial the jury saw video footage from a mobile phone SD card, showing sexual activity between the accused man and his daughter. The footage was filmed by the young girl's mother who was jailed for 16 months in 2012.
The SD card was handed over to gardai by a concerned member of the public.
The maximum sentence for sexually exploiting a child and knowingly causing or facilitating child pornography is 14 years. Both the prosecution and the defence say this is an unusual case.
Defence barrister Patrick Gageby said the video footage shows his client asking his former partner to stop the child interfering with him.
He asked the court to consider who initiated this lamentable episode. Judge Sarah Berkeley will finalise sentencing next Tuesday.
