A man remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning after he was attacked by youths and stabbed in Co. Louth.

The incident happened in Dundalk yesterday evening.

At about 6.30pm, a man in his 40s was attacked by a number of youths on Patrick Street in Dundalk.

He was stabbed a number of times in the face neck and arm.

The injured man then walked into a nearby pub and raised the alarm.

He was taken to hospital where he is now said to be in a critical condition.

No arrests have been made but Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this attack to contact them.
