A man has died after being hit by a car in County Clare.
It happened on the N18 at Portdrine at around 4am on Saturday morning.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision and a man in his 30s was taken to University Hospital Limerick.
He later passed away.
The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
Gardaí say the incident has been referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) but the referral is "not directly connected" to the collision.
