A man has died after his car entered the water at the Grand Canal in Kildare.
The incident occurred yesterday evening at approximately 8pm at Grangeclare West, Kilmeague.
A man in his 40s was recovered from the water at the Grand Canal and was treated by crew from the National Ambulance Service.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s body was removed from the scene and a post mortem will take place.
The scene is currently being examined by Forensic Collision Investigators and the Garda Water Unit with access along the canal currently restricted.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
