A Taiwanese man has died after playing video games for three days straight at an internet cafe.
The 32-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest, with doctors identifying cold temperatures and exhaustion as prime causes.
The man was slumped in his chair for some time before fellow gamers realised something was wrong - it was assumed that he was resting.
It is the second case of 'sudden death' relating to video games so far this year. On January 1 a 38-year-old man was found dead in New Tapei City after a five day gaming binge.
According tot he Tapei Times, Hunei Police Precinct chief Weng Chun-neng said that "more patrols will be conducted to remind residents about the dangers of prolonged sitting and game-playing."
In both cases, police were surprised to find other gamers were largely indifferent to the deaths:
"We went inside to cordon off the tables and had investigators there to gather evidence," a police spokesperson said.
"Only then did the other patrons realise that someone had died, but they still showed no concern and kept playing their games. We were amazed at their nonchalant attitude."
