A man has died in Galway after his car hit a wall.
It happened at 6.30am on Thursday morning on the Loughrea to Ballyglass Road near Kylemore Village.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, but the man aged in his 30s was pronounced dead.
He was the only person in the car.
His body has been taken to Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe for a post mortem.
Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the crash site.
The road has been closed and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them - and are particularly appealing to anyone who travelled on the road in the early hours of this morning to come forward.
