A man has died in a crash in County Cork this morning.

Gardaí said the collision, involving a car and a truck, happened at around 7:15am on the main Midleton to Whitegate Road.

A man in his 50s, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem is due to take place.

The road remains closed as Gardaí carry out a forensic investigation of the crash site.
