A man in his 40 has died following an assault in Co Kildare this week.

The man was treated for his injuries in Naas General Hospital this week but has since passed away.

Gardaí found the man outside a house in the Piercetown area of Newbridge on Wednesday morning at around 10:30am.

It's believed he was seriously injured in a row that took place inside the house earlier that morning.

The man was taken to Naas General Hospital, but has since died from his injuries.

A man in his 30 has has since been arrested as part of the investigation.

He's currently being held at Newbridge Garda Station.
