A 63 year old man has died in a car crash in Co. Tipperary.

The single car collision happened on the New Inn to Clonmel Road at Newtown, at around a quarter to three this afternoon.

A 35 year old man - who was a passenger in the car escaped with non life threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed while Gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene.
