A man has died following a car crash on the East Wall Road in Dublin 1.

It happened shortly before midnight last night when a jeep collided with an electricity pole.

A man in his 60s, the driver of the jeep, was transferred to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
