A man in his 30s has died following a single car crash in County Mayo yesterday.

It happened at around 7.30pm when the car hit a fence on the N5 in Knockanour in Castlebar.

The driver and sole occupant of the car received serious injuries and was rushed to Mayo General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Castlebar Garda Station.
