A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 25-year-old man in Dublin last night.
Ademola Giwa died in hospital after being stabbed multiple times during a row at Mac Uilliam Road.
This afternoon Gardai arrested a man in his 20s in Dundalk, County Louth in connection with the killing.
He is being held at Tallaght garda Station.
A second man, aged in his 50s, received non-life-threatening injuries in the attack and is being cared for at Tallaght University Hospital.
A post-mortem examination is being carried out on Mr Giwa’s remains and is due to conclude later this afternoon.
It has emerged today that children from the local area were enjoying a birthday party on a bouncing castle just yards from where the stabbing took place.
These residents say don't feel safe letting their children play in the area.
“I don’t want them to play outside,” said one. “We have a back garden so I let them play outside the back.”
“It is not the best of estates is it?” said another. “It is the not the first time things like this have happened. I have two teenagers at home myself and I don’t even let them out.
“It is hard. I am a cancer patient so I shouldn’t be stressing out so I keep myself to myself.”
This man knew the victim:
“He was a really nice guy,” he said.
“We did hang out on a good few occasions. He was a really nice guy who never caused trouble anywhere. It is just really unfortunate.”
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or were in the area between 6:30pm and 7:15pm - or any passing cars with dashcam footage - to contact Tallaght Garda station on 01-666-6000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any Garda station.
