A man has died following a suspected accident in West Cork this afternoon.

C103 reports that the body of the man was discovered between 2 trawlers on Dinish Pier in Castletownbere just after 2 o'clock today.

Castletownbere coastguard and the rescue 115 helicopter out of Shannon attended the scene and assisted in bringing the man to the pier.

A local doctor and a HSE ambulance arrived on scene at 2.40 and the victim - believed to be a fisherman - was pronounced dead at 2.45.

Investigations are continuing.
