A man has died following an assault in Co Kildare in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was found unresponsive on Dublin Street in Monasterevin and taken to Tallaght University Hospital.
The man, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon.
The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem is to be carried out.
Gardaí say the results of this will determine the course of the investigation.
A second man - aged in his 50s - was also treated for serious injuries.
He has been transferred to Tallaght University Hospital, where his condition remains serious.
Officers are renewing their appeal for witnesses to this incident.
Any person who was in the vicinity of Dublin Street, Monasterevin between 12.15am and 12.45am on Sunday is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
Any road users who were in the area, and who may have camera footage, are also asked to make this available.
