A man has died in Germany, four years after eating sandwiches his colleague had poisoned with mercury.
The 26-year-old had been in a coma since it happened.
A man was jailed for life last year after peppering co-workers' food and drinks with mercury and other substances over several years.
The 57-year-old - who was only identified as Klaus O. - was found guilty of attempted murder at Bielefeld District Court in northwest Germany.
He was also found guilty of multiple counts of bodily injury.
According to Deutsche Welle, Klaus O. was arrested after surveillance footage from a metal fitting company where he worked recorded him putting a homemade powder in his coworkers' food and drink .
It later emerged that the powder contained lead and cadmium.
The poisonings - which happened in the town of Schloss Holke-Stukenbrock - left two other workers with severe kidney damage.
The defendant remained silent throughout the trial last year, speaking only once.
However, a prison psychologist who interviewed the man five times told the court that he "seemed to me like a scientist who was testing substances on a guinea pig".
