A man in his 50s has died on a farm in Co. Clare.

The accident happened near Cooraclare in West Clare yesterday when the man fell off the roof of a shed he was carrying out repairs to.

Family members raised the alarm and emergency services rushed to the scene but they were unable to resuscitate the injured man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Child tried to revive him

It is understood the man is married with 3 children one of whom reportedly tried to revive him before the medical team arrived.

His body has been removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out later.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and gardai has been informed.
