A man has died in a motorbike crash in County Cork.

It happened on the R579 at Glen South in Banteer at around 6:45pm yesterday evening.

No other vehicle was involved and no one else was injured in the crash.

The man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place.

The R579 between Banteer and Nad remains shut this morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out an examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward this morning.

They are especially interested in talking who was travelling between Banteer and Nad between 6pm and 7.30pm yesterday and may have camera footage.
