A man has died in a house fire in Letterkenny in Co. Donegal.

The alarm was raised at a cottage in Glenkeogh at around 9:30pm last night.

When emergency services attended the scene they found the remains of a 69-year-old man inside the house.

A local doctor pronounced the man dead and the coroner has been notified.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

Meanwhile investigations are continuing into how the blaze started.
