A man has died in a house fire in County Louth.

The fire broke out at a house on Avenue Road in Dundalk yesterday evening.

Gardaí and fire services were rushed to the house; however, a man in his 40s died in the fire and his body remains at the scene this morning.

The house has been sealed off with a technical examination due to take place this morning.

Gardaí say the results of a post-mortem examination will determine the course of their investigation.
