A man (20) has been killed in a single vehicle crash in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.

He was a backseat passenger in a car that crashed into a tree at Hawkfield, on the Newbridge to Milltown Road, at around 7 O'clock yesterday evening.

Two other occupants of the car received serious non life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
