A man has died in an industrial accident in Co Kilkenny.

It happened at a quarry near Freshford at 12.30 this afternoon.

The 48 year old was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to St Luke's Hospital.

The scene was preserved for a forensic examination.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified.
