A man, in his 60s, has died following a house fire in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

The fire service from Drogheda were called to the house on Hand Street, close to the town centre, at about 9 o'clock last night.

The 68-year-old man is believed to have been on his own in the house at the time of the fire.

Gardai have preserved the scene of the blaze, which is not believed to be suspicious.
