A man in his mid-20s has been killed in a road crash outside Carrickmacross in Co. Monaghan.

The two-car collision happened at Drummondotra at around 7am this morning.

The man was in the car on his own at the time of the crash.

Two people who were traveling in the other car have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment. They are not in a life-threatening condition.

The Dundalk exit off the N2 at Carrickmacross is closed until further notice.
