Gardaí are investigating the death of a motorcyclist in a single traffic collision in Mullingar, Co Westmeath. 

According to Gardaí, the crash occurred at approximately 3.20pm on the N4 at Ballinalack. 

The motorcyclist, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. 

The N4 at Ballinalack remained closed overnight with local diversions in place. 

Investigations are ongoing. Forensic Collision Investigators are due to inspect the scene of the crash this morning. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.   

Any road users who were travelling on the N4 at Ballinalack around the time of the crash who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
