A man in his 50s has died following a crash between a car and a truck in Templemore, Co Tipperary. 

Gardaí said the crash happened at approximately 12pm on the N62 at Whitefields. 

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His body has since been removed to the Mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem will take. 

The driver of the truck, a man in his 50s, was uninjured. 

The N62 at Whitefields, Templemore remains closed. A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators will be conducted in the morning. Local diversions are in place. 

Gardaí in Thurles are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have video footage to contact them.
