A man in his 50s has died following a car crash in County Westmeath. 

At 6.40pm yesterday evening, Gardaí were called out to the R395 at Teevrevagh, Castlepollard where the man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

He was the driver of the car and it is understood he collided with a roadside ditch. There were no passengers travelling with him at the time. 

The R395 at Teevrevagh, Castlepollard was closed ahead of an inspection by Garda  Forensic Collision Investigators. 

Any witnesses have been asked to contact Gardaí, who are particularly interested in anyone who was driving in the Teevrevagh area with dash cam footage.
