A man (22) has become the latest fatality on the country's roads.
He was a passenger in a car that collided with a tree on the R130 Baldwinstown to Garristown Road in north Dublin, at around 9.35pm last night.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, where a post mortem will take place later.
The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.
