A man in his 60s has died in a car crash in county Sligo.

Gardaí said the man in his 60s suffered fatal injuries after his car struck a wall on the Tubercurry Road at around 9:45am this morning.

It happened on the section of road near the bridge at Doomore, Cloonacool.

His body was taken to Sligo University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place.

The road is currently closed as Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the crash site.

Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are calling for any witnesses to contact them.
