A man in his 30s has died in a swimming accident in County Carlow.
Gardaí said the man’s body was recovered from the River Barrow at Graiguecullen at around 9:20pm last night.
It happened in the Town Park area and it is understood bystanders attempted to help the man and bring him to safety after he got into difficulty.
Emergency services arrived shortly after 9pm and attempted to revive the man; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His remains were removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.
Gardaí are treating the death as a tragic accident.
