A computer science student has appeared in court, accused of intentionally driving his car into a man outside a shopping centre in Dublin.
Alegranto Kongolo from Rossfield in Tallaght is facing a number of charges including assault causing harm and endangerment of life.
The alleged incident is said to have happened on Wednesday when a man in his 20s was hit by a car outside Citywest Shopping Centre in Dublin.
He was taken to Tallaght University Hospital where it is understood he is still receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Alegranto Kongolo, a 23-year-old student of Rathmines College, was arrested at the scene and brought to court on Thursday
He is facing four charges: assault causing harm, endangerment, criminal damage and production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury.
Gardaí objected to bailon a number of grounds, including the seriousness of the charges and the likely sentence if convicted.
Mr Kongolo's mother was also in court for today's hearing.
The judge agreed to grant bail provided he stays with her in Tallaght, signs on daily, abides by a curfew and has no contact whatsoever with the alleged injured party, whom he knows.
He is due back in court in December.
