A 29-year-old man has appeared in court in Limerick charged with the murder of boxer Kevin Sheehy.
The 20-year-old died after he was hit by a jeep on Hyde Road in Limerick city in the early hours of Monday morning.
Logan Jackson, with an address at Coventry in England appeared before Limerick District Court on Wednesday.
He was remanded in custody to appear again on July 9th. A number of women in the court cried and shouted during the hearing.
Detective Garda Pat Whelan that 29-year-old Logan Jackson made no reply when he charged him with the murder of Kevin Sheehy.
Mr Jackson - with an address at Longford Road, Longford, Coventry - did not speak during the brief hearing at Limerick District Court.
There was a large Garda presence of uniformed and plain clothes Gardaí inside court room number 6, which was thronged with members of the public - including members of Mr Sheehy's family.
Members of the public sobbed in court and shouted at the accused.
Mr Sheehy, a well-known Limerick boxer, died after he was allegedly knocked down at Hyde Road last Monday.
Mr Jackson was remanded in custody to appear in court again on July 9th.
