A man accused of killing a Father of one who was abducted from Dublin's East Wall over two years ago has appeared in court.

Mark Allen (36) of Wellview Avenue, Mulhuddart was due to stand trial for his manslaughter but fled to the Netherlands.

He was arrested and extradited from Amsterdam last night on foot of a European Arrest Warrant.

Ciaran Noonan (29) was beaten and bundled into the back of a car after visiting a relative on Russell Avenue in Dublin's East Wall in October 2011.

Two weeks later his naked body was found in a field at Tullaghmeaden near Trim, Co. Meath.

Lawyers for the Director of Public Prosecutions objected to bail today and asked for a new trial date to be set.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring remanded the accused in custody and pencilled in January 12th 2015 for his manslaughter trial.
