Man due in court over €1.9m 'illegal tablets' seizure in Dublin

A man is due in court this morning over the seizure of illegal tablets worth over €1.9 million in Dublin.

Gardaí found the drugs during a series of searches in the capital as part of Operation Citizen on Friday.

Officers stopped and searched a car on the southside of the city and recovered over 10,000 Zopiclone and Alprazolam tabs worth €20,000.

Gardaí then carried out a series of planned searches across Dublin.

They found approximately 965,000 Zopiclone and Alprazolam tablets valued at around €1.93 million at a business premises in the south of the city.

They then found more tablets and cash worth €4,500, alongside evidence relating to the trafficking of drugs across the region, in two further searches.

The total value of the drugs found across the searches is estimated at €1,976,000.

Two men in their 30s and 50s were arrested – with the man in his 30s appearing before the courts on Saturday evening.

The man in his 50s is due to appear before Tallaght District Court this morning.
