A man is due in court this morning charged in connection with a large drugs seizure over the weekend.

Cannabis worth €720,000 was discovered at Dublin Airport on Saturday.

Approximately 36 kg of herbal cannabis was found in vacuum-packed packages when Revenue officers searched the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight from Toronto, Canada.

A man in his 20s was arrested and detained in Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

Revenue said the seizure is part of ongoing operations targeting "organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs".

Investigations are ongoing.
