Media reports in Melbourne say police are expected to charge a man shortly with the rape and murder of missing Irish woman Jill Meagher.
A 41-year-old man was arrested in the Coburg suburb of Melbourne earlier today.
He is said to be assisting police with their inquiries.
Jill went missing after a night out with colleagues on Friday night.
She was last seen at 1.40 am on Saturday morning on CCTV footage talking to a man in a blue hoddie outside a shop on Sydney road in Brunswick around 5 minutes from her home.
Earlier a man captured on CCTV footage which also shows the last-known images of Ms. Meagher urged others in the vision to come forward.
He is one of 6 people visible in the security camera footage which shows her walking down Sydney Road in Melbourne after leaving a bar in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She says the suspect in custody is understood to be the man seen on CCTV.
