The High Court has heard a 61-year-old man is wanted in the North to be questioned over the murders of three RUC officers over 40 years ago.
It will be alleged Martin McCauley is linked to the detonation of a bomb which killed the officers in Armagh.
The court heard Mr McCauley, with an address in Esmondale, Naas, Co Kildare, was arrested yesterday on foot of a warrant under the Trade and Cooperation agreement that came into force after Brexit.
He’s wanted for questioning in the North over the murders of three RUC officers in October 1982.
Sean Quinn, Allan McCloy and Paul Hamilton all died when their car was blown up close to Lurgan in County Armagh.
The High Court heard it would be alleged that it was a carefully planned attack which involved a bomb being detonated remotely from a van.
It would be alleged that there is forensic evidence linking Martin McCauley to the detonation site and to one of the two people who detonated the bomb.
Mr McCauley has been remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing and a bail application next week.
