A man facing charges in relation to a serious incident in Dublin City Centre last weekend has been unable to attend court. The 47-year-old of no fixed abode has been admitted to hospital.

The incident is alleged to have happened at a hotel in the city centre on Sunday May 19th.

A woman contacted gardai claiming she had been held against her will. A 47-year-old man was arrested last Saturday morning in the Beaumont area.

He was taken to Mountjoy Garda Station for questioning and was later charged with assault causing harm and false imprisonment.

He was due to appear before Dublin District Court this morning but could not because he is being treated at the Mater Hospital for injuries he sustained prior to his arrest.

Judge Patricia McNamara has made no order in relation to the two charges which can be brought at a later date.
