A man found dead at a house in County Tipperary yesterday is understood to have suffered a violent death.
The man was found dead at the house in Ballycrana, Kilross, shortly after 4am on Wednesday morning.
The man in his 30s was from Eastern Europe and had been living and working in Ireland for several years.
Gardaí are now working to piece together his last known movements.
A postmortem was carried out on the man’s body at University Hospital Waterford earlier today and the results will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
Irish Independent Southern Correspondent Ralph Riegel told Newstalk that the man's body remained at the scene overnight.
“The property remains sealed off until the forensic examination is concluded by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
“The postmortem examination will be key to the ongoing garda enquiries. Whatever the findings of the postmortem are they will inform the direction of the garda investigation.”
Rural
It is understood the man was living in the house with several other people.
“We understand that he is not an Irish national,” he said.
“We understand that he has been working in Ireland for a number of years.
“This is a rented property and apparently, he had been staying there with a number of other individuals.
“This is quite a rural area and people are quite shocked. It is a very tight-knit community and people were absolutely appalled to learn that someone had lost their life in the area.”
Gardaí say they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who knows anything about the death to get in contact with them.
