A man found dead in sheltered accommodation in Macroom, County Cork yesterday has been named locally as 61-year-old Michael Foley.
He had suffered extensive head injuries and Gardaí are treating his death as 'suspicious'.
They are collecting CCTV footage from the area and door-to-door enquiries are underway.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place at Cork University Hospital later.
It is understood that Mr Foley lived on the property for several years and was originally from Clonakilty.
His body was found at a house in Macroom at approximately 1pm yesterday afternoon.
The scene was preserved for a forensic and technical examination.
It is the second tragedy in the family in recent years after Michael's brother, Timmy Foley, was murdered in the town in 2018.
