The body of a man found in a slurry tank in Co. Tipperary last month is that of missing local man Bobby Ryan.

Gardaí made the confirmation this morning.

Mr Ryan, 52, had been missing since June 2011, and wasn't found despite numerous searches and appeals.

His remains were discovered two weeks ago to the rear of a house in Fawnagown.

The Irish Independent says the confirmation of his identification will now allow Gardaí to set up a murder inquiry.
