A man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a mother and daughter in Killorglin in Co Kerry last year.

Aurimas Andruska of 7 Ardmoniel Heights in Killorglin is charged with the murders of Jolanta Lubiene and her daughter Enrika on a date between June 15th and 17th 2013.

The bodies of Ms Lubiene (27) and her daughter (8) were discovered at their home at 9 Langford Downs.

Both of them had been stabbed to death.

The trial is being heard before Mr. Justice Patrick McCarthy, and a jury of seven women and five men.

Radio Kerry reporter Aisling O'Brien told Newstalk Breakfast earlier that a lengthy trial is expected.
