A man arrested over the murder of Marie Tierney in 1984 has been released without charge.
The 34-year-old married mother of two went missing in Kilkenny on October 22nd that year, after leaving her home in the family car.
She had left the house at Clintstown, Jenkinstown on the evening of October 21st at around 10.30pm in a Renault 18 Estate.
The car was later found later that same day at Newpark in Kilkenny.
A comprehensive search was carried out and Marie's body was discovered on the Bleach Road on December 21st.
A man aged in his 70s was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the investigation and taken to Kilkenny Garda station.
However, he has since been released without charge.
Gardaí say a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Overall, more than 500 lines of inquiry have been opened and over 200 witness statements recorded as part of the investigation.
