A man is reportedly been questioned overnight in connection with alleged harassment of RTÉ news anchor Sharon Ní Bheoláin.

The man (37) was detained in north Dublin yesterday and taken to Raheny garda station for questioning.

He can be held for up to 24 hours before being charged or released.

Gardai launched an investigation on foot of a number of e-mails that were sent to the broadcaster.

It is understood detectives also seized a computer and other equipment following a search.

The Irish Independent reports that the journalist received doctored images, as well as threats of a sexual nature, as part of the abuse.
