A man is in hospital after being shot in the Ballincurra Weston area of Limerick City yesterday afternoon. 

The incident happened after 4pm, according to Gardaí. 

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital for serious injuries. 

A man in his 40s has been arrested and is currently detained at a Garda station in Limerick City. 

A technical examination of the scene is currently underway. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were in Hyde Avenue, Crecora Avenue or Ballinacurra Weston between 4pm and 4.45pm yesterday to come forward.
