A man in his 20s has been hospitalised after being hit by a car in Navan town last night. 

It happened on the R147 Dublin Road, Navan, at the junction with Circular Road just after 9.30pm yesterday. 

The man was brought to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is understood to be serious. 

The driver of the car was unharmed. 

A full examination of the scene is being carried out by Garda Forensic Collison Investigators and local diversions are currently in place.  

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.     

They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage.
