A man has appeared in court charged with assault causing harm to off-duty garda in Limerick.
Michael Fitzgerald of Clough na Dromin, Ballysimon in Limerick was remanded in custody with consent to bail on his own bond of €1,200 and an independent surety of €1,200.
The off-duty officer sustained a serious head injury after he was attacked on St. Patrick’s Road in Limerick in the early hours of September 16th.
He was walking home with his wife at the time.
A 15-year-old boy is to appear in court later today charged with stealing the handbag of the victim’s wife.
