A 43-year-old man has appeared before Dublin District Court charged in connection with a stabbing in south Dublin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The victim, 40-year-old William O'Brien was discovered with stab wounds outside a house at Ravensdale Park in Kimmage.

He was taken to St. James's Hospital by ambulance.

His injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

43-year-old Leslie Mullarkey with an addresses at Ravensdale Park and at Tymonwood Crescent in Tallaght was arrested on Saturday evening in connection with the stabbing.

Bail & legal aid granted

He was later charged with assault causing harm to Mr. O'Brien.

Dublin District Court heard he made no reply to the charge.

Judge Victor Blake granted bail and legal aid to the 43-year-old who is not working.

He is due to appear again on February 25th.
