A man is in critical condition after he was assaulted in Cobh, Co Cork, over the weekend. 

The incident happened in a carpark on the Newtown Road on March 15 at 8.55pm. 

A man in his 30s was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment and he is currently in a critical condition. 

An incident room has been set up at Cobh Garda Station and an investigation is continuing. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward. 

They are appealing for witnesses, including those with dash-cam footage, who were in the area between 8.45pm and 9.15pm.
