A man in his 50s is in serious condition after he was attacked by a group of people on Talbot Street in Dublin last night.

Gardaí believe the man was attacked ‘by a number of persons’ at around 10:40pm.

It is believed the man is a US citizen who was staying in the area.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is in serious but stable condition.

No arrests have yet been made and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have video footage of the attack.
